Happy 2011!

I love the New Year!  January 1st brings fresh starts, new resolutions, and the promise that we can create our lives to fulfill our dreams!

2011 has brought with it a whirlwind of activity to Grab A Scab!

The 2011 Canadian Toy Fair is coming to Toronto on Jan 30.  We are thrilled to be participating as an ‘Inventor’ at Booth 173.   We have developed new retail packaging and we are excited to show potential retail buyers and distributors the buzz surrounding Grab A Scab.

  On another exciting note, we have designed a Custom Scab for Ellen Degeneres.   We call it the ‘Be Cool’ Scab. We are hoping to be able to sell this Scab and donate all the profits to Ellen’s efforts to spread the anti bullying message.  Cross your fingers that she likes it! 

Our other charitable initiative, the Community Scab, generated $56 for the Pediatric Oncology Group of  Ontario, POGO.  While not a mind boggling amount of money, it is a start.  We have plans in 2011 to expand this program and make this year’s donation a significant one.

$1.00 from the sale of each Community Scab will continue to be donated to POGO in 2011.

Feedback from our online customers and our blog reviewers continues to be positive.  Thank you all for your feedback!  The few glitches that you have brought to our attention have allowed us to improve our product and we appreciate your help in this process.

The best advice I have heard about designing a product is to listen to your customers.  Experienced entrepreneurs have told me that it is best to get your product ‘out there’  and then tweak it as you go along.   Well the tweaks have begun!!

Our New Fabric!

We are pleased to let you know that we have a new, more durable fabric.  When worn on the knee, the design on the old fabric could get scratched with aggressive play.  Our new fabric is a little thinner and far more durable!

Our New Instructions!

The new instructions are still simple but far more effective.  We have discoverd that not all washers and dryers or products used are the same!  Some fabric softeners interfere with our adhesive by coating the material.  Hot dryers can melt  Scabs.  Our instructions now specify, “Low heat.”  We also recommend that if you use a fabric softener to wash the clothing once before application to wash off the residue from the fabric softener.  The best advice we have discovered, is to let your Scabs sit for 24 hours before washing.  This allows the adhesive to cure. 

Our New Designs!

Our customers asked for smaller and girlier designs.  We have made both in our Button Collection.  People also asked for Reflective Scabs.  Safety Scabs are made from a thinner material and thus are ideal for bikes, backpacks and outer wear.  Our Reflective Halloween desgins are now available.

(Please note, that Safety Scabs do not make the best knee patches, The Original Collection is best in that area)
